Field Trips
During most months, we have photography field trips. Some are local and others are out of town. From a few hours to a few days, they are a great opportunity to challenge yourself and each other and gain insights and knowledge that will improve your photography skillsets.
In addition to hanging out with a group of passionate photographers, you’ll have the opportunity to review and receive positive critique and relax with food, drinks and fun.
Upcoming Field Trip
As we face scorching summer temperatures, we will be moving indoors for an unusual, yet unique experience. August’s field trip will take place at the Museum of Illusions located in the Galleria Mall. Here you will see close to 70 illusions with “mind boggling holograms and optical illusions.” There are “perspective changing rooms,” such as the Upside-Down World where you could photograph one of your fellow photographers doing a handstand with only one finger. There is an “Amazing collection of 3D images that suddenly disappear and re-appear.” The “tilted room” is another favorite. As their website states, you can “Engage in astonishing and mind-bending installations that will shock your senses and puzzle your perceptions.”
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes suitable for getting on the floor. Flash is allowed in most exhibits unless marked otherwise.
Tripods are acceptable. Buy your tickets online. We will meet inside the front entrance at 11:00 and take a group photo. Then you are free to explore.
After spending approximately 1.5 hours at the museum, we will head to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in the mall. This should be around 12:30-12:45.
