March Member Photography Discussion: The first theme is based on Colleen Miniuk’s presentation. If you were not at the meeting, then this is a little late, but still consider practicing perceptual blending. The concept is to put your camera down and simply absorb what’s around you and what’s going on in your head, and how that might be the basis for a photo. With that in mind, you don’t actually make any photos until a week before the meeting. Then bring your new perspective to image making and take five photos you composed and refined in your head during the previous three weeks.
For the second theme, submit five black and white images in one of three categories: landscape, architectural or portrait. Your submissions should emphasize light and tone, using your post-processing skills to bring drama to the images. Feel free to use photos you’ve previously shot in color. Turn them into dramatic black and whites.
With either theme, please keep your submissions to five so everyone has an equal opportunity to participate. We believe the monthly themes help one become a better photographer if you go out and make new pictures. Please send your pictures to Greg S. (sergesketter@gmail.com) no later than tomorrow, Monday, March 7th.
