Great Texas Balloon Race – Longview Texas

Where: Join us in Longview, Texas for the Great Texas Balloon Race.
When: June 17, 18 and 19.
What: The Great Texas Balloon Race will have almost 60 world-class pilots competing for various titles in their brightly colored hot air balloons. There will also be non-competitive, uniquely shaped balloons that will fly at a different time. Get creative with your lens choices as there will be opportunities in the early morning, at night, and from various distances.
Prepare for the excitement as pilots meet at 6:00 am to receive their take off locations. We will follow crews as they rush to prepare their balloons for the 6:45 take off. Don’t be surprised if the cars come to a sudden stop, and the crews release helium balloons to test the direction of the wind.
The “moon glows” and concerts are scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.
Social Club is the opening act at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. They play “Top 40’s music from the 60’s through today.” They will be followed by The Molly Ringwalds. On Saturday, Cody Wayne will open with his high energy “Texas Country” music. The headliner for the event will begin at 9:30 p.m. with Little Texas!!!

Lodging: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Courtyard by Marriott in Longview for Thursday, June 16, 17 and 18th with checkout on the 19th. Price of the rooms (two queen beds) will be $129.00 per night plus tax. The Courtyard is located at 1125 East Hawkins Pkwy, Longview (903.230.2700). Please mention the HIPClub and if you are a senior. If you will not make all three days, please let the hotel know so they can release the room.
