Join us in Bellville, TX at 9:00 a.m. at Phenix Knives where “Cowboy” Szmanski will fire up the forges
and give a demonstration and a bit of history on the lost art of blacksmithing. Phenix Knives is located in the historic 1891 blacksmith shop located at 305 E. Main. The demonstration should last about 45 minutes, and you are welcome to ask questions and move around the shop with your camera. Tripods are welcome. If you would like to hammer out and forge your own knife, it will be on a first come first serve basis. Saturdays are their busiest days, so they will open to the public at 10:00 am. You are welcome to stay longer. The cost of the demonstration is $10.00 per person ($100.00 minimum).
The fee to make a small knife is $30.00, and a larger knife is $50.00. The shop will hold approximately 25 people. In order to have enough seating, please contact Betty Waldo at 281-732-2460 and let me know if you plan to attend. We will complete our outing with lunch at 11:30 at The Hill located at 758 E. Main Street.
