Join us at the Audubon Raptor and Education Center at 7:30 a.m. on February 12, 2022 where we will take a Photo Tour of the sanctuary for rehabilitated birds of prey. The tour will include up close and personal encounters with 8 magnificent birds. They will be placed on a natural perch and we will be allowed to photograph them within a few feet, unhindered by the fencing of their aviaries. What an incredible opportunity to photograph 4 types of owls, 2 types of hawks, a Mississippi Kite and a Turkey Vulture without the need of a huge lens!
Tripods are allowed.
We will also tour the rest of the facility where we will see other birds of prey in their aviaries, and a few other animals that belong at the center.
The tour should last approximately 2 hours and light refreshments will be served. Be sure to wear hiking shoes and bring your insect repellant. This is a natural setting with varied terrain (dirt, gravel, board walk etc.).
Cost of the Photo Tour is $50.00 per person, payable at the center. The center is located at 3997 River Dr., Houston, TX 77017. Please visit www.houstonaudubon.org and click on the Raptor Education Center where you can view many of these beautiful birds. You can also print a map with directions to the facility. We are limited to 12 photographers per tour, and interest was strong at the January meeting, so please email Betty Waldo @bjwdabue@aol.com and let me know if you plan to attend.
