February Challenge – Black and White
Monthly Member Photography Discussion: The theme for our February meeting is “Black & White”. As Corey noted, just don’t take a color picture and desaturate it. Think of the textures and contrast of a subject and how it may be more conducive to being viewed in B&W. So make those pictures and send up to five of them (1400 pixels long edge) to Tim Watson (Tim@photowatson.com) no later than Monday, February 11th. Please note which one you would like to be discussed further (if any). Also, in your file names, it would be helpful to be descriptive and to insert your name since it might work better with our website.
The Purpose of Our Photography Themes: I believe Corey stated this well, “I think the challenges are most valuable when they challenge us to learn something new, or break out of a rut, or go someplace we wouldn’t ordinarily go, or generally do something to grow as artists and photographers.”
Prints: Try to print and bring to the November meeting at least one of your photos you are submitting for the Member Photography Discussion. A number of members did do this at our last few meetings, which provides for some interesting thoughts.
